Tigné Point

It is hard to believe that this bustling 30-acre site was derelict just a few years ago. But starting with a clean slate has its advantages… The wide-open spaces allowed the developers to plan everything down to the finest detail.

Some of the most established businessmen in Malta came together with a dream to turn the Tigné peninsula into a hub of complementary activities. The MIDI consortium engaged cutting-edge architects and designers to make the most of this unique waterfront location with its stunning views of Manoel Island and the World Heritage capital city, Valletta, with its centuries-old fortifications.

Roads and parking were placed underground to create a welcoming pedestrian environment, with a boardwalk around its perimeter, skirting restaurant terraces and an exclusive lido, as well as heritage sites embedded into the site.

Residential blocks were set into landscaped areas, encircling the piazza with water features, surrounded by cafes and restaurants, high-end shops, and the most popular shopping mall on the island.
